Peculiar Preserves
Featured in The Huntsvillian Box
Hi, I'm Evangeline!
I have always made jams, jellies, preserves, pickles, and chutneys. During the pandemic I was gifted with several 5 gallon buckets of jalapeños and made 15 cases of pepper jelly. I had forgotten just how much I love being creative in the kitchen. Then I had to start Peculiar Preserves in order to have an outlet for all of the different varieties of jam and jelly that I was having such a great time creating.
All of my products are created in very small batches in my jam kitchen. I use local and regional fruits as much as possible. I do not use any coloring agents or artificial flavorings and I strive to have my ingredients lists as short as possible with nothing that is unpronounceable.
As a local maker, what does it mean to you to be part of a flourishing community in Huntsville?
I LOVE the drive and creativity of the Huntsville/Madison County area. The sheer levels of talent in our community is breathtaking. I am so lucky to be able to have not one but two studios in Lowe Mill and work everyday doing the things I love, both jam making and fiber arts. I would have never imagined that my life would end up as rich, artistic, and flavorful as it has become.
